Jose Canseco is back, signs with Worcester Tornadoes

ESPN The independent league Worcester Tornadoes on Friday signed former slugger Jose to a one-year contract, the team announced. The 47-year-old Canseco, who last played in the majors in 2001, was last in the news in March, when his plan to play in the Mexican Baseball League was derailed due to a doping claim. “I am very much looking forward to putting on a uniform and competing on a professional level again this year,” Canseco said in a release from the Tornadoes. “I love the game of baseball. I am particularly grateful to the Worcester Tornadoes for embracing me and having the confidence in me to help the team win.”

Word on the street is that Boston radio studs Toucher and Rich of 98.5 The Sports Hub may have set this up. If you don’t know the history between T & R and Jose, they got into it  during a phone interview on the station a while back but since Rich has kept in touch and thanks to that we have something amazing. Jose Canseco will once again be playing baseball in Massachusetts. I’ll be completely honest with you, there is no chance in France I will be traveling to Worcester to see Canseco play but I will definitely be sporting the jersey once it’s on sale. For all of you who aren’t afraid to travel five minutes outside of Boston like myself, get your tickets to a Worcester Tornadoes game now!
