A bit of baseball news here. With the season quickly approaching, the Red Sox could be in need of a closer…already.
Apparently, Andrew Bailey might need surgery on his right thumb. Baseball injuries are tough. Sometimes you wanna’ say, “just man up and play.” However, you need a thumb to throw a baseball. It’s crucial. Josh Beckett, also has a thumb injury, but he doesn’t need surgery and is still expected to be in the lineup on opening day.
Valentine said he fully expects Beckett to make his scheduled start Saturday. But asked whether Bailey could be out days, weeks or months, the first-year manager said: “Possibly all of the above.” -(ESPN.com/Boston).
