Spring Training gone wild, Yankees end game early and Bobby Valentine hates it

ESPN BostonWhat could possibly be controversial about a 4-4 tie in spring training? Boston Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine found something, objecting to New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi’s decision to tell the umpires his team did not want to play extra innings… When a New York reporter told Valentine that Girardi said he wanted to preserve his pitching and the Yankees “had a long day tomorrow,” Valentine wasn’t buying it. “They had plenty of pitching,” Valentine said.

Either Bobby Valentine really knows how to play to his audience, or he is just a bad ass. His comments show that he is a true baseball guy and just wants to compete. Girardi, on the other hand, is looking at the long-term success of his team. Both good arguments, but I am just glad that they are already conflicting. I hope Valentine snaps and stabs Girardi in the arm with a lit cigarette. I just feel like that is something Bobby would do.
