Celtics Trade Rumors: Al Jefferson back to Boston?

With the NBA Trade Deadline just a week away, trade rumors are swirling around the NBA and many of those rumors revolve around the aging Celtics. We have all heard the drama between the C’s and Rondo this year, but would trading him be their best move? Here are our thoughts on what the Celtics should do:

Rajon Rondo, Ray Allen, and JuJuan Johnson to Utah

Al Jefferson and Devin Harris to Boston

-Who wouldn’t want to see Al Jefferson back in Boston? Pair him with Devin Harris and that is the only way I would give up Rondo. Do it Danny.

Kevin Garnett, player to be named later, draft pick to Atlanta

Josh Smith and Kirk Hinrich to Boston

-And by draft pick I would give up every pick for the next few years to land Josh Smith. I have no idea why Atlanta would do this, but it is an expiring contract and takes a lot of cap off their books.

Ray Allen and Sasha Pavlovic to LA Clippers

Eric Bledsoe, Ryan Gomes, and draft pick(s) to Boston

-Young talent, check. Draft pick, check. Ryan Gomes back to Boston?! Yup. Ray Allen would be a perfect addition to that Clippers team. Title run for the Clippers? Wow.

Ray Allen and Jermaine O’Neal to Portland

Marcus Camby, Craig Smith, and draft pick to Boston

-This would just be trading big contracts and adding a draft pick for Boston. Ray Allen would fill in nicely for the loss of Brandon Roy. Bring Camby and Smith back to Boston (former local college stars) and add a first round pick to spice it up.

Kevin Garnett, E’Twaun Moore, Jermaine O’Neal, and draft pick(s) to Philadelphia

Spencer Hawes, Evan Turner, and Andres Nocioni to Boston

-Probably too much in Boston’s favor but if Philly is trying to make a move this year as Elton Brand isn’t getting any younger, this might be a good move for them. Clearly a perfect move for Boston as they would get a good young center and guard.

Ray Allen, Jermaine O’Neal, and player to be named or draft pick to Memphis

OJ Mayo and/or Tony Allen, and Hamed Haddadi to Boston

-Memphis is last in the league in three point attempts. Ray Allen is the perfect fit for a young Memphis team without any outside scoring or veteran leadership. Bring Tony Allen back and/or the potential talent in OJ Mayo, add a 7’2″ monster in Hamed Haddadi and if Memphis is willing to eat Jermaine O’Neal’s contract, I’m sold.

Those are some of the trades we think should happen, you send us you trades so we can criticize them.

  1. Realist says:

Josh Smith has told the Hawks he wants to be traded ahead of the March 15 deadline, sources tell the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Smith has previously complained about getting singled out for criticism by the coaches and media. Now he reportedly “believes he needs a fresh start with a franchise where he can better reach his potential on and off the court.” Smith is also upset that the Hawks didn’t do enough to promote him for the All-Star team and wants to play for a team more committed to winning for a championship. The Hawks will never be able to get equal value for Smith, who is 26 and under contract through the 2012-13 season. It’s hard to see a deal getting done here. – rotoworld
