This Just In: Bruins Sign Marty Turco To A 1-Year Deal

Well, that didn’t take long. Looks like the Bruins have signed Marty Turco to back-up Tim Thomas.

Turco, who had been playing in the Erste Bank Hockey League in Austria, is a three-time NHL All-Star, earning trips in 2003, 2004 and 2007 as a member of the Dallas Stars. His last NHL action came last season, when Turco went 11-11-3 with a 3.02 goals-against average and a .897 save percentage in 29 games as a member of the Chicago Blackhawks. -(NESN.com)

Marty was just hangin’ out in Austria, drinking tea and using a large tuba, like in the “Ricola” commercials, or whatever the hell it is you do in Austria. He was biding his time until he got a call from a hockey squad. That call came today. We all know Thomas can’t play every game leading up to the playoffs. And with Rask out 4-6 weeks and the #1 goalie injured in Providence, enter Turco. I like the move. It can’t hurt.
