Rondo and Pierce are top contributors in 2012 All Star Game

There’s nothing like NBA All Star weekend. The dunk contest is a combination of unknown players, the three point contest is what it is, and the All Star game itself should have an over/under of 400 points. Well last night the West won as Kevin Durant took home the MVP honors and Kobe Bryant overtook Michael Jordan’s record of most points overall in All Star games. On the East side, the two Boston representatives, Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo, were certainly contributors in the loss. Paul Pierce, who played in his 10th and possible last All Star game, went 1-of-8 shooting from the field for a total 3 points in his 11 minutes. Rajon Rondo played 16 minutes, went 1-of-3 shooting for two points (a classic Rondo behind the back fake pass for a layup was his only 2 points), had 4 turnovers, but did dish out a solid 8 assists. I haven’t been this depressed as a Celtics fan since the Gerald Green days. Pierce has clearly lost a step, or three, and he is still the best player on the Celtics. Time to blow it up? I think so.
