Hurricanes Blow

It may be true, hurricanes actually do blow, literally. The rain and wind combo is just awful, and if you lose power during one forget about it. But, I’m talkin’ about the hockey team. They are in 15th place in the east. They are terrible. And for some reason the Bruins cannot beat them.

Over the last few games, the Bruins haven’t looked so great. A sloppy win against Ottawa on Tuesday, and a piss-poor performance against Carolina last night.

Don’t get me wrong, Cam Ward played out of his tree. A 47 save performance is damn good. But the B’s just couldn’t manufacture a goal. I like the shot total, but Cam Ward saw a lot of shots clean. Tuukka looked alright, but again, the defense for Boston was shaky.  The best line by far was the Seguin, Bergeron, Marchand trio. They were around the net as usual using their speed to create chances. For as disappointing as Eric Staal has been so far this season, he always puts up numbers against Boston, and last night was no different.

Tuomo Ruutu. We might want to remember that name. Not only because it appears to have too many vowels, but because he could be on the trading block as well. It’s no secret that the Bruins have some cap room to make a move and Ruutu is a name that’s been coming up a lot. A pretty good audition for Boston last night if you ask me. He scored a weird goal, but all in all played a solid game for Carolina.

Carolina sweeps the season series, but if they make the playoffs, I will eat a hat. A wool hat. Boston needs to clean it up. Hamill is trying his best, but he is no Nathan Horton. It would be nice for Horton to get back in the lineup, but the whole concussion thing scares me. Hopefully, the black and gold will tighten the screws and rebound against a Crosby-less Penguins team on Saturday.
