The one game of the year I miss, the Celtics play their balls off and stage the best win of the year. Pretty typical as far as my luck is concerned. Because I HAD to miss the game because I HAD to go out and have an awful dinner with my girlfriend’s friend and her boyfriend. It was torturing. The food was bland, the conversation sucked, and my girlfriend’s friend is way hotter than my girl so that just made everything worse. But despite my terrible situation last night, the Celtics came back from 27 points to beat the Orlando Magic. And from what I read about this morning and the highlights I saw from the game, here’s a few things that stood out…
Again, from what I read and recapped Pierce led this comeback single handily. Everything he did he did it a bit harder and faster than anyone on the court (starting in the 3rd quarter). He attacked the hoop with no regard for anybody else and decided he was going to take over the game. Not bad for an old bastard that clearly still has some juice left in the blender. He finished the game with 24 points, 10 assists and 6 rebounds.
The rookie gunner with the horrible 55 jersey number dropped 16 points coming off the bench, going 4-4 from three-point land. I’m not ready to deem this kid rookie of the year like Tommy and Mike Gorman, but it’s nice to see a first year player actually making an impact for the Celtics. It’s been quite a while since that happened, but for God sakes someone change his jersey to a respectable number.
Is there such thing as Magic faithful?
I am confident to say that in my lifetime I will never meet a hardcore “Magic” fan. Pretty sure they don’t exist. I’ve never even met a fair weather Magic fan. Because only strippers and tourists come from Orlando. Top of the line strippers from what I hear too. But I doubt any of those strippers know who Jameer Nelson or Stan Van Gundy are.
Of course I didn’t pay the bill last night
Pissed that I was at the third tier restaurant with people I didn’t want to be with last night, I obviously let my girlfriend’s friend’s boyfriend pay for dinner. I did pull the, “I got it man, it’s cool” when the check came but when he politely rebutted with a “hey it’s ok I got it” response, I just let it go and said fine. He was shocked because I think he was expecting this regular check banter to go on for a bit and didn’t think I was going to give in to him paying. I didn’t care though. His girlfriend was hotter than mine..dammit.
