Morning after post: Celtics lose to Heat but I’m OK with it

It’s going to be one of those years when the Celtics are going to have to take a handful of bashings in order to be somewhat healthy going into the playoffs.

That was what I wrote when the Celtics were down by 20 points midway through the third quarter. Thinking that this Celtics team could possibly beat the Miami Heat at the point in the game was as far-fetched an idea as me adopting mayonnaise as my favorite condiment. The Celtics cut the monster lead to 3 and because I am short on time this morning, I will put the entire blame of this loss on the shoulders of the poor officiating and the fact the Pierce wasn’t dressed. Here’s a few things from last night….

Rondo continued his “eff you for trying to trade me” mentality this game by posting 22 points, 12 assists, and 8 rebounds. Although he did have 7 turnovers, Rondo controlled the game and is clearly still the most important player on the Celtics. I won’t mention that air ball lay-up in the second quarter though….

Keyon Dooling
With the shooting form of Tony Allen and the heart/mindset of a Walter McCarty Eddie House mix, Dooling was huge in the fourth quarter from the line and from beyond the arc. He posted 18 points, 4 of 6 from deep, and came up with a monster three with 90 seconds left to cut the lead to three. Now all he has to do is change the dreadful jersey number from 51 to something respectable.

Brandon Bass
There isn’t any question that Bass is becoming a Go-To guy for the Celtics second unit. Bass posted 13 points, 5 rebounds,2 blocks in 35 minutes. Bass is erasing any memory of that fat ass Big Baby Davis that was sent to Orlando in the exchange trade, and to be honest Brandon has a way better body. Solely observational, not my personal opinion.

As the Celtics were starting to lose ground in the second quarter my brother turns to me and asks, “So do you think Ray will retire after this year?”. Literally milliseconds after the question, Ray nails a fading away, falling out of bounds three pointer. “Nah, I don’t think so” I said.

The Norris Cole Fan Club looked good
Rookie Norris Cole had 14 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter, including a bogus charge that he took on Brandon Bass with under 5 minutes to play. It’s funny, who would ever think an understudy of Lebron and Wade would be an arrogant cocky asshole? Well, at least he is loved the fans. Or fan.
