A new streak is underway for the Bruins after last nights win over the Winnipeg Jets. The Bruins showed their resiliency as they were down early, with the Jets scoring 2 goals in a matter of seconds.
A couple of old friends came back to Boston last night. Blake Wheeler and Mark Stuart, who was rocking one hell of a good mustache. I bet it was pretty damn awkward for these guys coming back. They were traded to the Thrashers at the deadline last season. And then… we won the cup. And the Thrashers, well the Thrashers were so bad they left Atlanta.
Who did we get for Wheeler and Stuart? Rich Peverley, is who, and some defensemen who hasn’t seen the light of day. Mr. Peverley had one solid game. He created a short-handed opportunity that led to a goal for another deadline acquisition from last year, Chris Kelly. Kelly later added another goal to show that Peverley and Kelly are both better than Blake Wheeler. I’ll leave Mark Stuart alone because he is tough, and he has a great mustache.
1) Chris Kelly
Someone get this guy a new contract. Kelly just knows how to play the game. The guy can kill penalties, score, and he can even fight if the need be. Peverley has gotten a new contract, and I feel like Kelly will be next in line. With 2 goals last night, Kelly became the second leading goal scorer for the B’s.
2). Zdeno Chara
The big man had a solid game for the B’s. He had a rocket of power play goal to get the garden rockin’. He played physical and he is just so solid on the back end. He is a monster and every team in the NHL wishes they had a guy like this.
3). The 4th Line
The 4th line for Boston has to be the best 4th line in the NHL. These guys are always making something happen. Paille, Campbell and Thornton just bring the noise. Paille showed some fancy moves on the PK last night, and Campbell and Thornton were all around the net. With a 4th line like this, you can rest the top guns, without feeling nervous.
