Bruins Snap Back to Reality

For the love of Jeff, the Boston Bruins played a great game last night…finally. I was in attendance at the Garden, and as I sat down with a Bud Light in one hand and a Shock Top in the other, whatever the hell that was, I didn’t know what to expect. Of course right off the bat, we go down 1-0 off a ridiculous goal. We tied it up on the powerplay, which actually looked good last night. Then again, in true Bruins fashion, we immediately give up a goal the next shift to go down 2-1.

In the second period, the Bruins played with some authority. Tyler Seguin made a beautiful pass to Patrice Bergeron to tie the game at 2’s. With a few minutes to go in the 2nd, Chris Kelly sniped one top shelf, where Grandma keeps the peanut butter, and the Bruins were up 3-2. The crowd was buzzing and so was I. During the intermission, some lady won $100,000. That has nothing to do with the game, but it was pretty sick.

Ottawa tied it up, and the crowd uttered, “here we go again.” But no, oh no, not if Johnny Boychuk and Danile Paille had anything to say about it. Which they did. They scored back to back, 37 seconds apart to put the B’s up for good. As long as the Bruins play pissed off with emotion, they are going to be a tough team to beat. Also, upon further review, Shock Top is actually pretty damn good.

3 Stars

1). Chris Kelly

Kelly is just a hard worker. He kind of looks like a cartoon character but his play is no joke. He had a goal and an assist to help the Bruins to a victory. It was also Chris Kelly night as he was featured on the program handed out to the fans. So, by the laws of physics, he had to play well, and play well he did.

2). Tim Thomas

Timmy struggled in the beginning, albeit the first goal was not his fault.   But he rebounded quite nicely. He had some obscene saves in the 2nd period, keeping the Bruins in the game. He shut down Ottawa when he had to. Hopefully a game like this can start a path to him playing like he did last season, we’ll see.

3). Shawn Thornton

This guy is just the heart and soul of Boston. He threw down in the 1st after the B’s allowed a goal. It led to a PP goal by Milan Lucic. The guy plays with his heart on his sleeve and it really gets the crowd and the team going. He also added a nice little apple on Danny Pailles goal.
