In the Big Three era, the Celtics are now 2-11 in close out games in the playoffs. Last night might have been one of the worst of those 11 losses. It was literally the worst game the C’s played all playoffs. Going 33% from the field, scrounging up 5 bench points, and dealing with Rondo on one of his pissy emotional nights, the C’s let Philly hang in the game and are now forced to play a game 7 on Saturday instead of resting their warped bodies. Goddamn. A few things from last night:

Allen Iverson in the house

AI was introduced before the game to present the game ball. Do you know what my favorite Iverson story is? When he kicked his naked wife out of his house during a booze filled fight. Quite the scholar. AI also never packed bags for away games. He always bought new clothes in the cities he stayed in. I almost envy that level of ignorance.

Rondo was bummed out so he played like shit

Luckily for the Sixers they caught Rondo on one of his moody nights where he didn’t feel like playing for half of the game. At times he played well, but for the majority he kind of coasted and missed 10 of 14 shots. I love Rondo, but seeing what he can do when wants to play compared to nights like Game 6 make you want to choke his skinny transgender looking neck.

Ray Allen needs new orthopedics

Ray was completely useless. Almost a liability. Actually he was a liability. Ray shot 4-11 from the field in 26 minutes and also fouled out. He looked as brittle as ever and didn’t stand a chance against Evan Turner or who ever the hell else he was guarding. You have to feel for him because he is battling through some serious pain, but once Avery Bradley’s shoulders stop popping out in his sleep he is immediately getting thrown back in the starting five.  I like the Celtics in Game 7, but it’s so damn unnecessary.

The title of this post might have been a little much. But no Avery Bradley, a banged up Paul Pierce, a hobbled Ray Allen, a new 36 year old Kevin Garnett, and a pitiful excuse of mimicking a celebration by Stiemsma (above), the Celtics still managed to blow the doors off of Philly. Sure they got to the line 17 more times than Philly, but the Celtics had enough of this Sixers team in the third quarter when they ramped up the D and started making shots. A few things from last night:

Brandon Bass

Bass exploded in Game 5. He dropped 27 points and 6 boards in 37 minutes. It’s never to late to start hitting your stride, because Bass has barely been a shadow of his regular season self in the playoffs. The two hand slam man bullied Sixers down low and had countless two hand slams. Bass’ only flaw of the night was his post game interview. If anyone saw it, he was a little too giddy to be on TV for my liking. I’m sure KG will have a nice chat with him about that.

Greg Stiemsma played more than 43 seconds

It was great to see young Stiemsma see some quality burn in Game 5. I love Ryan Hollins’ energy, but he’s just all over the place all the time. Almost too excited. But not Greggy. Stiemsma gives you a little more control on offense and way better defense. Hopefully Doc will ride Steamer for the rest of the playoffs and seriously limit Hollins’. Everyone is realizing that the kid can kind of play.

Rondo rakes

Another night, another double digit assist game for Rondo. Rondo had 13 points and 14 assists and spent his night feeding Bass and KG jumpers and layups. Best point guard in the league. Chris Paul, Deron Williams are all jump shots and bad facial hair.

I respect Will Smith’s sports taste

Not a lot of celebrites will make it to the East coast for a Celtics vs. 76ers Eastern Conference Semi Finals game. Have to give Smith credit here by appreciating solid basektball instead of flocking to LA to drink a bloody mary at the Lakers game. The real question though, where did Jada get that dress? I love the way it falls on her.

Racist or not, this ad wouldn’t give off the same vicious vibe if a white guy was biting into a raw chunk of meat. And the photographer of this forgettable protein supplement knows that. Along with everyone else.

Go Celtics

Picture this, you get great 3rd row seats to game 4 of the Celtics, Sixers series. Paid out the you know what for these tickets. You grab some snacks, maybe a little soda pop, find your amazing seat, only to be seating next to Predator. I don’t know what is worse, the scenario I just gave to you, or being the guy with the seat directly in front of him with those dreads draping down on you the entire night. This guy is ruining nights for everyone.

In yesterday’s match-up between the Boston Red Sox and the Tampa Rays, Franklin Morales plunked Will Rhymes in the arm with what I hope to be a roaring fast ball. Rhymes was walking it off, stumbling, and eventually went limp into a Rays’ staff member’s arms. When the training staff asked Rhymes to state his name, he said he is Batman. Could have been a wise-alek comment, or the dude can’t handle getting hit in the forearm with a pitch. Could it be that this freak incident turned Will Rhymes into Batman? If so, I would imagine that this kid is going to tear it up until he realizes he is not Bruce Wayne.

Today the great Rob Gronkowski turned 23-years-old. When I was 23 I was hanging in out my buddy’s basement prank calling all the fat girls I was trying to hook up with. At 23 Gronk is actually hanging out with said fat girls and giving pussy fingers. Dude’s a legend. Happy birthday to one of the finest men to have ever lived.

When the 99 Restaurant created the promotion in which kids eat free when the Boston Red Sox win, they were actually winning. Today the Sox are dead last in the AL East with a 12-19 record and five games behind the closest team in the standings. Children in Boston were relying on the 99 Restaurant’s promotion for their meals, but Bobby Valentine and crew has taken the food right from their mouths. The Red Sox organization should be ashamed of themselves; they are going to kill the children.

Eccchhhhh..

A game 5 win would have been nice. With the Hawks being at home and their backs against the wall, a nice 3 games to 1 cushion for the Celtics, and David Stern wanting to prolong the series in order to rake in more advertising opportunities, the Celtics still should have come away with a W. So now there will be a Game 6 in Boston on Thursday. And if recent history of the Celtics closing out playoff series at home repeats itself, expect the Celtics to scalp and rape the Hawks. A few things from last night…

Al Horford is apparently back

So after playing in one game since January, Horford crushed it last night with 19 points and 11 boards. There’s something about Horford that makes him extremely unlikable. It could be his awful set shot or his extreme and bogus “Hawk” pride. It sucks because he’s getting better by the game, so hopefully the C’s get rid of the Hawks in game 6 before big Al drops 40 and 30 in Game 7.

Josh Smith missed his 27th dunk of the series

Smith is a boisterous idiot. Thats all.

Ryan Hollins saw some decent burn

Hollins logged some 19 minutes last night, slating 5 points, 4 rebounds, and a block. This was hands down Hollins’ best game as a Celtic and possibly his best game as an NBA player. When a player is playing well for the C’s, Doc will ride them. I would rather Doc ride Steisma than Hollins, as big Greggy only played four minutes.

Frozen Planet made an appearance

When the Celts were down 11 in the 3rd, I angrily changed it over to “Frozen Planet” on Animal Planet. I learned a few things in my brief break from the game: 1) How to kill a walrus the right AND traditional way (with spears of course).. 2) A Baldwin narrates the show. Not sure which one but he is excellent. 3)If the sea level rises a meter everyone on Earth will pretty much die.

Mickael Pietrus sucks

I know he’s coming off of a violent concussion from the regular season, but he just sucks. His no-follow through jump shot that always clanks off the back iron is getting a tad old. I’d rather have Marquis Daniels or Sasha play in front of him. Give me solid D from Daniels and 4 points a game over Pietrus’ garbage play any day.

Rondo will have a stat sheet stuffing game 6

If you look solely at the score card at Game 5, Rondo played well. He had 13 points, 12 assists, 5 rebounds, and 5 steals. A solid game for any guard. But Rondo also had 5 turnovers and went 6-17 from the field with a hefty amount of jump shots. Being home on Thursday with the chance to put away the Hawks, Rondo is going to feast on Atlanta.

Statement game. That’s what Game 4 was.  Also was a game where Pierce had the Garden crowd jacked up from the opening tip, Rondo was smashing assists left and right, and Joe Johnson has yet to seen.  It feels like this series is pretty much done but I’m not going to say anything because I’m a superstitious Jew.  A few things from last night…

Paul…Pierce

Pierce was in classic playoff form from the get go. He finished with 24 points in just 17 minutes. Early in the second half, Pierce came up hobbled as he banged/twisted knees coming through a screen. And in typical Pierce fashion, he came back from a knee injury and drilled a three pointer on the following possession. Being Slow, jerky, and doughy, Pierce is still a dominant NBA player come playoff time.

Rajon Rondo

I find it impossible that Rondo still isn’t mentioned as the NBA’s top point guard. Chris Paul and Deron Williams can score, sure. But no other point guard in the NBA can deliver the ball in the perfect spot at a consistent rate like Rondo. And last night his passing ability was on full display yet again. Rondo finished with 20 points and 16 assists, and pulled off his patent ball fake move to demoralize the Hawks late in the game.

Al Horford returned to the lineup?

So for some reason Al Horford returned to the Hawks lineup. Horford hasn’t played since January and apparently the Hawks decided to let him go last night. I guess you have to do something when Joe Johnson is only scoring 9 points a game.
